To maintain good oral hygiene it is important to regularly visit Smile Craft Dental, along with good brushing and flossing. Our dentist not only examines your teeth for signs of decay or damage, but also looks for early signs of gum disease and oral cancer.
X-rays of your teeth are usually taken every two years, unless we notice a problem and need an X-ray to look inside the tooth. X-rays may be needed more frequently in higher caries risk cases, but our digital x-rays are very safe.
Our dentist will first ask about any problems since your last dental check-up and will update your medical history.
At your check up our dentist will:
- Check for early signs of decay or cracks
- Check existing restorations
- Look at your gums for early signs of gum disease
- Examine your tongue, throat, cheeks & lips for oral cancer
- Examine for signs of grinding and associated damage
If our dentist feels that your oral hygiene needs to be improved or any other treatment needs to be done, we will create a treatment plan outlining the work to be carried out and the costing; you will then need to make an appointment for the necessary treatment. We do take the time to explain all treatment options very carefully, but if there is something you don’t understand then please just ask us, as we know that sometimes there might be quite a lot of information to take in and we certainly don’t mind going over things again with you.
